Every year millions of people become blind due to cataracts. Although there are many causes of blindness world-wide, cataract is the most common cause and is fortunately also the simplest to fix. Catatrac can help identify cataract so that cataract can be treated and sight restored.

In nursing homes throughout the world, elderly people struggle to cope with daily tasks. Cataracts are common in the elderly and very often, cataract is part of the problem. Catatrac can assist detection of treatable visual impairment in the elderly including those with dementia.

Every year some children are born with blindness due to cataract; if the diagnosis is missed in the first few months of life, these eyes will be irreversibly blind; if cataract is detected, sight can be saved. Catatrac can detect lens defects in the new born.
